Life is a journey, and we travel through it together. So God designed us to do it in relationship - with Him and each other. We look forward to getting to know you as a part of our family and want to share a little about us so you can know us better.
The Vision
Journey started as a church plant in February 2004, and God gave us a distinct vision to pursue. We are called to be a maturing, multiplying church that reaches hundreds in the Central Valley and beyond. The Vision we're pursuing includes:
Becoming a Regional Church for Tracy, Mountain House & San Joaquin Valley Building an evangelistic life group ministry that reaches 12,000 people Growing to a weekly worship body of 10,000 people Developing a team ministry model reaching across multicultural segments Building an internship program that coaches & mentors 20 ministry staff for future planting ministries Planting 7 churches in Central Valley region or beyond Involving every member in at least one short term mission trip or global ministry
Pursuing God & Loving People One at a Time
Membership in the Body of Christ develops many of our spiritual faith muscles. We have discovered four of those key muscles that grow as a result of being “together as a family”, and have made these our Four Pillars at Journey:
· Word - We grow in our personal relationship with God by knowing his Word.
· Prayer - At the heart of a personal relationship with God is conversation, and that happens as we speak to Him through prayer.
· Service - Serving HIS kingdom on earth is a responsibility and an opportunity for us as part of His New Kingdom.
· Love - Loving People One at a Time is Loving people the way God would Love them to bring them closer to Christ.
Christ is the Hope of the World and the Head of the Church: Our existence as a fellowship is only because of the saving work of Jesus on the cross. (1 Peter 3:15, 1 Tim 4:10, Col 1:18)
Prayer is the oxygen for the Church, and Love is its blood: (John 17:20-21, Mark 11:17, 1 Cor 13:13, John 13:34-35)
Authentic Worship is a God given lifestyle: This lifestyle frees us from the entanglements of life and glorifies God in Heaven. (John 4:23-24, 2 Cor 3:16-18)
God's heart is for people: All people matter to God, so He sent the Church to bring people into His Kingdom. (Matt 18:14, Luke 15, 2 Peter 3:9)
Cultural relevance is not optional: It must be accompanied with sound doctrine to be effective. (Rom 1:14-16, Acts 15,Titus 1:9, 2:1)
Complete devotion to Christ is not only expected, but exhilirating! It is reflected in a life that embraces joyful discipline, accelerated maturity, servant leadership, and creative excellence through the use of spiritual gifts. (2 Tim 3:16-17, Eph 4:11-15, Col 2:6-7, Heb 12:1)
Community is the context of life change, effective ministry and strong relationships: God designed it in the family and empowered it in the Church. (John 13:34-35, Deut. 6:6-9, Eph 5:22-6:4)
